Bows Mould IOD décor mould 6 x 10 - by Iron Orchid Designs - New Release
In ancient Greek and Roman art, the depiction of drapery and textiles was a significant element, showcasing the artists' skill in rendering the natural flow and folds of fabric. The IOD Bows mould captures this essence, with its detailed depiction of the ribbon's folds reminiscent of the attention to drapery in classical sculptures.
During our travels to Bath and London, we were awe-inspired by the relief work in the ancient stone buildings with these motifs. We knew we had to bring that timeless beauty to our community with this design.
Project Suggestions:
Furniture: Bows make an excellent connector for swags. Smaller bows can be used under knobs or as an excellent addition to relief compositions designed for harmonizing with the piece's lines.
Small Decor: Lamps, jars, vases, candles, serving trays, and plant pots.
Wall Art: Excellent for dimensional frieze compositions OR crowning a subject within the frame.
Sugar Arts: Special occasion cakes, weddings, anniversaries with a sophisticated neoclassical style.
Pairs Well With:
Viridis Mould
Olive Crest Mould
Dainty Flourishes Mould
Felicite Mould
Mix with our floral transfers like Fairytale Florals or Rose Botanicals.
Use IOD Moulds with many different mediums.
The 2 most common mediums used for furniture, jewelry, or home decor accents are Air Dry Clay and casting resin
IOD Air dry clay also called paper clay is an air dry medium. Like other paper pulp based air dry clays, some shrinking, warping, and cracking is expected and results in a distressed, authentically vintage look. Suggested way to apply molded pieces is to take them out of the mould while still moist, then adhere to your project with your favorite glue, ensuring it conforms well. If the surface is vertical, you can use a piece of low tack tape to hold it in place to keep it from sliding.
Casting resins have completely different qualities than the paper clay. There are some great pourable resins available. It will not shrink or warp, and the casting is more consistent. Depending on your project, these qualities can be helpful. If you need to conform your casting to a curved surface, you will need to remove it from the mould before it’s completely hardened.
Most of the time a release agent is not needed and the casting will come out easily. However, if you are having any trouble with the material sticking (more common with clay) then a light dusting of cornstarch or arrowroot is works great.
