Persephone Mould IOD décor mould 5 x 7 - by Iron Orchid Designs - New Release
Inspired by Greek and Roman relief art of the female form, particularly from the Classical period, Persephone's features express strength and peace. She stands strong as a standalone focal point in your projects or serves as a solid base for composing a more grand relief. She comes in a 5”x7” form-fitted mould format with added depth and detail.
Project Suggestions:
Furniture: Would make a strong element in an asymmetrical relief tucked in among florals and architectural elements for a fun contemporary take on neoclassical relief work.
Small Decor: Plant pots (think bust plant pots) and large vases.
Wall Art: Strong standalone focal point OR a base to collage a more robust relief composition.
Pairs Well With:
Laurel Mould
Olive Crest Mould - A classical symbol of victory and honor, a laurel wreath would complement the serene and idealized beauty of the woman's face.
Dainty Flourishes Mould
Classic Elements Mould
Acanthus Mould
Viridis Mould
Felicite Mould
Use IOD Moulds with many different mediums.
The 2 most common mediums used for furniture, jewelry, or home decor accents are Air Dry Clay and casting resin
IOD Air dry clay also called paper clay is an air dry medium. Like other paper pulp based air dry clays, some shrinking, warping, and cracking is expected and results in a distressed, authentically vintage look. Suggested way to apply molded pieces is to take them out of the mould while still moist, then adhere to your project with your favorite glue, ensuring it conforms well. If the surface is vertical, you can use a piece of low tack tape to hold it in place to keep it from sliding.
Casting resins have completely different qualities than the paper clay. There are some great pourable resins available. It will not shrink or warp, and the casting is more consistent. Depending on your project, these qualities can be helpful. If you need to conform your casting to a curved surface, you will need to remove it from the mould before it’s completely hardened.
Most of the time a release agent is not needed and the casting will come out easily. However, if you are having any trouble with the material sticking (more common with clay) then a light dusting of cornstarch or arrowroot is works great.
